My week on crutches was partly spent looking desperately out the windows at the tasks I was supposed to do before winter. Not exactly creative or productive. Oh well, the garden can wait. And the tea is good.

Looking and identifying. Sowing, growing and harvesting. Eating, drying and drinking flower tea. And always photographing, all the time, each and every step. They will be my downfall.

Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip or two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

Georgiana Brummell is not my legal name, but it is what I use. I chose it in honour of Beau Brummell. I live in New Jersey and am forty-one years old. Some of my interests include studying dandyism, nineteenth-century English grammar, Upper Received Pronunciation, the Italian language, British history, the Regency, opera, and MS-DOS and its current varients. I like coffee, tea, wine, cooking, classic literature, nature and historical documentaries, old BBC radio shows, gardening, hot weather, and playing cards and dice. I love opera, particularly singers from the 1940's and earlier, with Tito Schipa, Beniamino Gigli, Ferruccio Tagliavini, and Mattia Battistini being my favourite singers. I also enjoy English and Viennese operettas. In classical music, I like Baroque through early Romantic. I prefer antique menswear (usually Edwardian) and accessories. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity, though I do enjoy adult fun. I am happily childfree and am not religious. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Although I've lived in the USA for many years, I'm a Brit who doesn't want to take US citizenship. I liked living in France but have to stay in America. I miss the NHS!

I have another thing to add… with Valentine’s Day coming up a lot of people look to others for love but it doesn’t only have to be that way.

It’s okay to:

  • take yourself on a little date,
  • do something nice for yourself in the present moment,
  • do nice little acts of for your future self,
  • take yourself to a , a , a show,
  • buy yourself ,
  • eat at your fave restaurant,
  • get yourself a lovely drink or ice cream,
  • set aside some special , coffee, chocolate, bath bombs, items for tough days,
  • be your own best friend for a day, treat yourself and encourage yourself like you would a best friend or a lover
  • buy some new clothing, house / kitchenware, perfume/cologne, toys or supplies for your hobby,
  • find yourself a new or try the you’ve always wanted to, or reinvent yourself (if you cannot afford it you can repurpose/rework/up cycle or trade some of your current things or for something that works for you),
  • join a new club,
  • learn a new skill or restart an old one,
  • quit a skill or hobby and take up a new one,
  • stop reading a book, watching a series or movie if you don’t enjoy it
