“Sunset on Lake Nakuru's flooded trees”

There are many lakes along the length of the African Rift Valley, which runs from the Red Sea in the north to Mozambique in the south. Kenya’s eastern Rift Valley has a string of eight lakes.

The Rift Valley is subject to ongoing plate tectonics and crustal movement that can affect the lakes. The recent rises, though, are directly associated with above-average rainfall. The lakes have been even higher in the past, and with rainfall in the Rift Valley Basin being on a rising rainfall trend, higher lake levels can be expected in the future.

Lakes Nakuru, Bogoria, and Baringo have risen to their highest levels in decades, inundating roads and building infrastructure, yet they also are not as high as they were in the early part of the last century.

“Sunset on Lake Nakuru's flooded trees”

There are many lakes along the length of the African Rift Valley, which runs from the Red Sea in the north to Mozambique in the south. Kenya’s eastern Rift Valley has a string of eight lakes.

The Rift Valley is subject to ongoing plate tectonics and crustal movement that can affect the lakes. The recent rises, though, are directly associated with above-average rainfall. The lakes have been even higher in the past, and with rainfall in the Rift Valley Basin being on a rising rainfall trend, higher lake levels can be expected in the future.

Lakes Nakuru, Bogoria, and Baringo have risen to their highest levels in decades, inundating roads and building infrastructure, yet they also are not as high as they were in the early part of the last century.

Krkrkr, la tête du moine qui vient de regrimper sur sa montagne quand il réalise qu'il a oublié le ! 😉

Pour ceux qui veulent l'admirer de près, il trône dans l' permanente "Sociétés" au des Confluences.
La statue de cet ascète provient du (fin époque Muromachi, époque de Momoyama, XVIe s).

Il y a des reflets d'éclairages dans la vitre. Le moine est assis en tailleur avec la jambe droite repliée sur la gauche. The machinery has gone quiet, the lights extinguished, yet the people shuffle forward. Obedience a rhythm they can’t escape.

This image captures a desolate city street, stripped of warmth and color through deep infrared. Pedestrians, ghostlike and pale, move mechanically across a crosswalk, their winter coats stark against the dark, looming façade of a massive building. Its windows are lifeless and empty, a hollow monument to a system that no longer functions. The road markings remain crisp, and bent traffic poles lean inward, hinting at decay. Yet the crowd continues to obey invisible rules—stopping, walking, and spacing themselves with mechanical precision. No signals flash, no lights command them, but their movements persist as if dictated by an unseen authority. The figures are small and faceless, their steps hollow and automatic, caught in a rhythm they can’t escape. The scene feels frozen in time, heavy with silence, where obedience lingers not through power, but through patterns so deeply etched they endure long after the system fades away.

사진은 찍기 전부터 무얼 어떻게 찍을지 결정해야 한다는 말은 맞다. 하지만 내가 무슨 사진을 얻고 싶었는지는, 그게 아닌 사진들을 찍어보는 경험과 왜 안 나왔는지 설명할 수 있는 조금의 지식으로부터 배우는 수 밖에 없다.

사진은 재미있고 어려운 취미다.

If you're thinking, "I've seen these before," you're right. I was on a pleasant little photo walk with @Vulpy on Sunday. Since his beautiful version of these stalks is very dark, I decided for a highkey approach and tidied up the area a bit. 😉

Thank you all who sent me sweet messages when beloved Drake died in early June. It was a very rough time for me. But after the Buddhist 49-day mourning period was over, my need to become a dad again for the unfortunate grew strong.
Here, meet Kengo. A mutt, estimated to be 6-7 years old, spent 8 months in a shelter, put on the death row, a rescue group pulled him out in time. I hope he and I will have a happy next chapter together.

'dusk paining A66-II-4'

I'm really happy about the results of my evening trip to the motorway bridge a few days ago. This one's my favourite. I love the colours and shapes.
BTW: It's more or less straight out of camera. I just cut it to square format and pushed saturation and contrast. That's all.
