The rock is covered in moss and is rather dark, in contrast to the very light background. Ein Luchs liegt auf einem Felsen im Wald. Er hat seinen Kopf aufmerksam gehoben und blickt nach rechts, hat sonst aber eine entspannte Körperhaltung. Der Felsen ist von Moos bedeckt und liegt eher im Dunklen, im Kontrast zum sehr hellen Hintergrund.

I'm thrilled!!

Orion, the neighborhood feral who was spayed in Nov 2024 through Casper's Legacy, a local Trap-Neuter-Release agency, has been living in my kitchen for the last three months. The kitchen door is open but she doesn't venture out.

I'm not allowed to touch her, she scurries away if I get too close. "Too close" has narrowed considerably, it was a big step when she began licking yogurt off my finger. I never scold her.

Tonight while I was preparing my dinner, she rubbed against my legs. The first time she touched me. I'm thrilled!

Some day I will be able to pet her and, hopefully, comb that luscious fur. In the meantime, I follow her lead. I don't and won't try to touch her until she's ready. Rubbing against my legs is a good sign, she'll let me know when she's ready. I can wait.

当家の猫は元々石垣島の生まれで、公園に住む野良の子供としてビニールゴミの中から保護団体の方に拾われて以降、巡り巡って当家で引き受けることになった。

良く言えば慎重、悪く言えば臆病なため、人の膝などという安心できない場所に乗ることなどもっての外であり、どれだけ心を許した人間でも半径50cmより外が彼のセーフティーゾーンとなっている。

とはいえ人間は好きらしく、気が向けばセーフティーゾーンを越えて人間の足を舐め、鼻を擦り付けて甘えてくるので、そこはやはり猫たる所以であるなと感心しておでこを撫でたりしている。

薄っすらと縞のあるグレーのハチワレというのは純粋な日本猫には無い毛並みらしく、石垣島という生まれもあって、もしかすると遠く南洋航路を人と共に旅する、はるかペルシアに祖を持つ冒険猫の血が、小さじいっぱいでも入っているのかもしれぬと勝手に想像している。

Hey everybody, as a belated post, I’d like to introduce you to Mellie, the sweet little gray and white domestic shorthair kitty I adopted a few months ago.

She is undersocialized but vigorously responds to food and play, even pets sometimes! She’s also become quite vocal, e.g. when receiving just her *second* favorite food. I’m doing my best to give her a comfy, healthy, loving home.

My dear sweet angel Buxi the passed away last Sunday morning. 💔💔 I did my best for her, I’m going to **keep** doing my best to express authentic love and care, for pets _and_ for people, at every opportunity. I know Buxi needed that, and I know she knew how much I loved her 😢😢

So please, give all your sweetie kitty extra pets and love, for me and for Buxi.
