Good morning. ⛅🌤️😎
18 August 2025
The sun rises later and later these days. I was up at the crack of dawn this morning—that moment when ambient light hasn’t quite seeped through the bedroom windows. But it was just bright enough to wake Charlie, who woke my wife, who woke me by saying, “Charlie’s up.”
It reminded me of Ben, who used to wake me at four in the morning during his final years. Then my wife would say, “Ben’s up.” She’s been scouting for a puppy lately, but everyone seems to want a small fortune for theirs. I’m not used to that—I’d need to meet the dog first. And honestly, I’m not sure I’m ready for another puppy.
Still, if past patterns hold, a dog will show up at our doorstep eventually - abandoned, looking for a place to land. It happens more often than you’d think. It’s like we’ve got a neon vacancy sign flashing in the yard.
